Story
Hannah was the beloved wife of Elkanah, but she was barren, while his other wife, Peninnah, had children and mocked her mercilessly.
During a visit to the tabernacle in Shiloh, Hannah poured out her anguish in silent, heartfelt prayer. She made a vow, promising to dedicate her son to God if He answered her.
The priest Eli saw her praying and at first misunderstood her, but then blessed her when he realized her sincerity.
God remembered Hannah, and she gave birth to Samuel. True to her word, she brought him to the tabernacle once he was weaned.
There she praised God with a song that declared His justice and might. Hannah's story became the foundation for Israel’s prophetic turning point.

Christ Connection
Hannah’s miraculous motherhood and song of praise anticipate the birth of Christ and Mary’s Magnificat in Luke 1.
Her surrendered motherhood points forward to the faithful obedience of Mary, who also offered her son to God’s plan.
Hannah's story shows how God exalts the humble and brings salvation through unexpected vessels — just as He did through Jesus.
