Story

In a world filled with violence and corruption, Noah stood out as a righteous man who walked with God. Because of this, God chose him to survive the coming judgment through a global flood.

God commanded Noah to build an ark to save his family and pairs of every kind of animal. Though people around him likely mocked and rejected him, Noah obeyed God in every detail (Genesis 6:22).

When the flood came, Noah, his family, and the animals entered the ark and were saved. After the waters receded, Noah built an altar to the Lord, and God made a covenant with him, promising never again to destroy the earth by flood. The rainbow was given as a sign of this covenant.

Though Noah was a man of faith, he was not without flaws. After the flood, he planted a vineyard, became drunk, and his nakedness led to a troubling incident involving his son Ham (Genesis 9).

Spiritual Significance

Christ Connection

Noah points us to Jesus, who provides the ultimate rescue from judgment. Just as Noah's obedience led to the salvation of his family, Christ’s obedience brings salvation to all who are in Him. The ark is a picture of Christ — a refuge from the coming judgment.
