Glory
Seen in creation, fulfilled in Christ, shared with His people.
Original Word: כָּבוֹד (kavod)
Reference: Exodus 16:10
Meaning: Weight, honor, splendor, majesty.
Used when ‘the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud’ — God’s presence made visible to His people in the wilderness.
Glory is the visible display of God's greatness — His holiness, majesty, power, and worth.
The Hebrew word for glory (כָּבוֹד, *kavod*) means 'weight' or 'substance' — showing that God’s glory is not abstract, but overwhelmingly real.
Throughout Scripture, God’s glory is revealed in creation, His presence in the temple, His acts in history, and ultimately in the person of Jesus Christ.
Amazingly, God does not just reveal His glory — He invites us to reflect it. In Christ, we behold His glory and are transformed to share in it (2 Corinthians 3:18).
Glory Revealed in Creation
“The heavens declare the glory of God” (Psalm 19:1). All creation is a testimony to His power and beauty.
God made humanity in His image, crowned with glory and honor (Psalm 8:5), to reflect His nature on earth.
Glory Dwelling Among His People
In the Old Testament, God's glory appeared as fire and cloud — filling the tabernacle (Exodus 40:34) and the temple (1 Kings 8:11).
But sin caused that glory to depart (Ezekiel 10:18). The people longed for God’s glory to return — for His presence to dwell with them again.
Jesus: The Glory of God in Flesh
Jesus is the ultimate revelation of God’s glory: “The Word became flesh… and we have seen His glory” (John 1:14).
He is “the radiance of the glory of God” (Hebrews 1:3). In Christ, God’s presence returns — not in a building, but in a person.
Beholding and Reflecting Glory
As we behold the glory of Christ, we are transformed into His image “from one degree of glory to another” (2 Corinthians 3:18).
Believers are being made into vessels that reflect His glory — not our own — through lives of worship, obedience, and holiness.
Future Glory and Eternal Joy
Paul calls our sufferings “light and momentary” compared to the “eternal weight of glory” that awaits us (2 Corinthians 4:17).
In the end, the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord (Habakkuk 2:14), and we will see Him face to face — glorified forever in His presence (Revelation 21:23).

Glory is the brilliance and beauty of who God is — made visible in creation, revealed in Christ, and reflected through His people. We were made for His glory, and one day we will share in it fully, forever. Until then, we live to glorify Him in all we do.
