Kingdom of God
Already here, not yet complete.
Original Word: מַלְכוּת (malkut)
Reference: Psalm 145:11–13
Meaning: Kingship, royal rule, dominion.
Used to describe the everlasting reign of God — His power and authority over all creation and history.
The Kingdom of God is not just a place — it's God’s rule and reign over all things.
In the Old Testament, the Kingdom was anticipated: God as King ruling through His chosen people.
When Jesus came, He announced, 'The Kingdom of God is at hand' — meaning the reign of God had arrived in Him (Mark 1:15).
The Kingdom is both present and future: already here in the hearts and lives of believers, but not yet fully revealed until Christ returns.
The Kingdom Foreshadowed in the Old Testament
God reigned as King over Israel, calling them to be a holy nation under His rule (Exodus 19:6). He ruled through judges, prophets, and kings, but the people often rejected His kingship (1 Samuel 8:7).
The prophets looked forward to a time when God would establish a perfect kingdom of justice and peace, ruled by a righteous King from David’s line (Isaiah 9:6–7; Daniel 7:13–14).
Jesus Announces the Kingdom
Jesus came preaching, “The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe the good news” (Mark 1:15).
He brought the Kingdom near through His miracles, teachings, and authority — showing what life under God’s reign looks like (Luke 11:20).
The Kingdom Is Not of This World
Jesus told Pilate, “My Kingdom is not of this world” (John 18:36). It doesn’t come by force or politics, but through transformed hearts and lives.
The Kingdom advances through humility, service, repentance, and faith — like a mustard seed that grows silently but powerfully (Matthew 13:31–33).
The Kingdom Now and Not Yet
The Kingdom is already present wherever Christ is Lord — in the Church, in individual lives, and through the Spirit’s work (Romans 14:17).
But we still await its fullness: “Your Kingdom come” (Matthew 6:10). One day, every knee will bow to King Jesus (Philippians 2:10).
Living as Kingdom Citizens
Believers are called to live as citizens of God’s Kingdom now — seeking first His rule (Matthew 6:33), bearing Kingdom fruit (John 15:8), and proclaiming the gospel of the Kingdom (Matthew 24:14).
We are ambassadors, not settlers — representing our King in a world that needs His rule.

The Kingdom of God is the reign of God through Christ — breaking into the world now and coming in fullness at His return. As His people, we are called to live under His rule, reflect His character, and proclaim His reign until the whole world sees Him as King.
