Heaven

The presence of God is the place of joy.

First Mention in Scripture

Original Word: οὐρανός (ouranos)

Reference: Revelation 21:1–4

Meaning: Heaven/sky; God’s dwelling.

John sees a new heavens and a new earth, and the dwelling of God with humanity.

Heaven is not escape from creation but the renewal of creation with God at the center (Revelation 21–22).

To be 'with Christ' is far better (Philippians 1:23). Our ultimate hope is resurrection life in a new heavens and new earth where God dwells with His people.

Heaven is home because Jesus is there.

With Christ, In Glory

To depart is to be with Christ (Philippians 1:23). Ultimately we will be raised and transformed (1 Corinthians 15), dwelling in the renewed creation (Revelation 21:1–5).

No More Curse

God wipes every tear; death and pain are gone (Revelation 21:4). The curse is lifted; we see His face (Revelation 22:3–4).

Worship, Work, and Wonder

Heaven is not idle cloud-sitting. We will serve, reign, and worship in unbroken joy (Revelation 22:3–5; 2 Timothy 2:12). The city’s light is the Lamb (Revelation 21:23).
