Truth
Unchanging, eternal, and embodied in Jesus.
Original Word: אֱמֶת (emet)
Reference: Exodus 34:6
Meaning: Firmness, faithfulness, truth.
God declares Himself as 'abounding in love and faithfulness (truth)' — a God who never lies, never changes, and always keeps His Word.
In a world of shifting opinions, changing values, and blurred lines, people ask the same question Pilate asked Jesus: *'What is truth?'* (John 18:38).
The answer is not a theory, philosophy, or system. Truth is a Person. Jesus said, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life' (John 14:6).
To know truth is to know Him — the Word made flesh, full of grace and truth (John 1:14).
Truth is not defined by culture, feelings, or consensus. It is rooted in God’s nature, revealed in Scripture, and made visible in Christ.
Jesus Is the Truth
Jesus didn’t say He teaches truth — He said *He is* the truth (John 14:6). That means all truth flows from Him, and anything that contradicts Him is false.
In Him we see what is real: who God is, who we are, what sin is, and what salvation requires. “In Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:3).
What Is Truth?
Pilate asked Jesus, “What is truth?” (John 18:38) — echoing the world’s ongoing confusion. But standing in front of him was Truth Himself.
Truth is not something we define. It is something we receive from God. Without Him, we suppress the truth (Romans 1:18) and exchange it for lies (Romans 1:25).
God’s Word Is Truth
God’s Word is the measuring line for all truth. “Your word is truth” (John 17:17). It reveals reality as it truly is — exposing sin, guiding the humble, and pointing to Christ.
Scripture doesn’t change with the times. Truth is eternal because God is eternal (Psalm 119:160).
The Truth Sets Us Free
Jesus said, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). Truth isn’t just information — it’s liberation.
When the Spirit opens our eyes to the gospel, we are freed from deception, shame, and condemnation (John 16:13; 2 Corinthians 4:4–6).
The Danger of False Truths
Satan is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44). He presents half-truths, twisted scripture, or worldly wisdom to lead people away from God.
We are warned not to follow “every wind of doctrine” (Ephesians 4:14) but to speak the truth in love — grounded in Christ.
Living According to the Truth
Believers are called to walk in truth (3 John 4), worship in truth (John 4:24), and speak truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).
Truth isn’t just something we believe — it shapes how we live. A life built on truth stands firm (Matthew 7:24–25).

Truth is not an abstract concept — it is the very nature of God revealed in the person of Christ. The world is lost in confusion because it rejects the truth that sets it free. But for those who come to Jesus, truth becomes not just something to believe, but someone to love and follow. He is the Truth — yesterday, today, and forever.
